Management Team


Stuart Pearce, CEO & Director General

Stuart Pearce was appointed CEO and Director General of the QFCA in May 2005. Previously with HSBC for 31 years, his roles included CEO of HSBC Private Banking Europe and the Middle East, Chief Executive and Country Manager for HSBC Japan, Head of Corporate Banking in the UK and CEO of HSBC Investment Management.

 

Jeffrey Eggleton, Director of Operations

Jeff joined QFCA in May 2006. He worked for HSBC for 29 years in roles including HR Strategist, Head of E-Commerce in Saudi Arabia and Chief Operating Officer in Turkey.

 

 

Desmond Holmes, Managing Director of Business Development (Banking)

Des joined the QFCA in September 2005 from International Bank of Qatar, where he was General Manager. He has been a career banker for 12 years, previously with ANZ Grindlays with experience in Singapore, Thailand and Qatar. International Bank of Qatar acquired the business of the ANZ Grindlays in Qatar two years ago.

 

Fetooh Al Zayani, Managing Director of Business Development (Insurance and Reinsurance)

Fetooh joined the QFC Authority in early 2006 from the Dubai International Financial Centre, where she was responsible for the development of the commercial strategy for insurance and reinsurance. Prior to that, Fetooh headed the aviation underwriting division of the Arab Insurance Group. Her career spans 27 years of marketing, underwriting and management in the regional and international insurance and re-insurance market.

Steve Martin, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications

Steve joined the QFCA in November 2005 from HSBC Bank Middle East. He was HSBC's Head of Corporate Affairs in the Middle East for 7 years, based in Dubai. Prior to that he was a British diplomat, with a specialization in the Middle East.

 

 

Abdulrahman Al-Mannai, Director of Human Resources

Prior to joining QFCA in February 2006, Abdulrahman was Senior Corporate Planning Analyst with RasGas. During his career (which included ExxonMobil in the US) he has held several positions in Human Resources, including HR Advisor, Senior Manpower and System Analyst and Training and Performance Management Officer.

 

Jane Kang Thorpe, Chief Legal Officer

Jane joined the QFCA Authority in February 2006. Previously, she was General Counsel of the QFC Regulatory Authority, and General Counsel and Company Secretary of the Dubai International Financial Exchange responsible for regulation and exchange membership. She was Director of the Division of Clearing and Intermediary Oversight of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission before she moved to the Middle East in 2003.

Ian Anderson, Director of Finance and Tax

Ian joined the QFC Authority in August 2006. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1986 and is a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Tax. He spent 10 years at PriceWaterhouseCoopers before transferring into the airline and leisure travel industry. As Director of Tax and Treasury of MyTravel Group from 1993 up to his current appointment he was responsible for worldwide tax planning, including cross border asset financing, leasing and debt financing.

David Bode, Director of Audit and Risk

David joined the QFC Authority in February 2007. Prior to joining QFCA, David spent three years in senior risk management positions in major banks in Riyadh and Bahrain. Before coming to the Middle East in 2004, David’s career in Internal Audit and Risk Management spans 17 years in banking, insurance, retail and manufacturing companies in Australia, Europe, USA and Papua New Guinea.

Shashank Srivastava, Director of Strategy & Planning

Shashank joined the QFC Authority in April 2006. He has 12 years of global experience in the strategy consulting and investment industries, and has held key positions with Dresdner RCM Global Investors, Andersen Consulting and (in the region) with Abraaj Capital and DIFC. He has also worked for Swiss Re and Prudential of UK.
