Message from the QFC Authority
A warm welcome to the latest edition of QNews for April 2012:
Another bumper month, April has proved very productive, and there has been a lot of activity behind the scenes here at the QFCA as we strive to represent Qatar and the diverse businesses that operate within the QFC.
Most notably has been the first ever Bloomberg Doha Conference, held in partnership with the QFCA and featuring His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla Bin Saoud Al-Thani, which was widely attended by more than 350 asset managers and financial industry leaders from around the globe. The conference examined some of the major themes affecting global managers and has been hailed a great success.
Furthermore, a long-term strategic partnership between QAMC (a collaboration between the QFCA and the Qatar Investment Authority) and Barclays Natural Resource Investments (“BNRI”), a global private equity business focussed on natural resource investment opportunities, has this month been secured. As a part of this partnership, the QAMC will co-invest $250 million in BNRI’s current and future portfolio companies, of which a substantial proportion will be allocated to BNRI’s existing $1.8 billion portfolio of companies.
