DOHA, 16 December 2008

In the drive towards operational excellence, the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority has recently been awarded the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9001 certification by the British Standards Institute (BSI).
After more than six months of assessment and review, BSI found the QFC Authority's quality management system to be in full compliance with international standards, and the award recognizes its commitment to meeting the business needs of its growing client base. The certification confirms that QFC Authority clients will receive high quality services in a timely and efficient manner, with processes and procedures that continue to be improved.
The recognition also highlights an important stage in the QFC Authority’s gradual transition (in tandem with other Qatar governmental organizations) to more automated, secure and paperless operations, underpinning its mission to be the financial centre of choice in the region.
Jeff Eggleton, Director of Operations at the QFC Authority, said "ISO 9001 certification is a crucial milestone for us. We are working with many of the world’s leading financial and professional institutions and we need to be able to demonstrate to them that the QFC Authority is also world class in everything we do. The Operations team has worked tirelessly for this qualification and I am proud of them and of the QFC Authority for what we have achieved."
ISO 9001 is by far the world’s most established quality framework setting the standard for quality management systems currently being employed by almost 900,000 organizations across 170 countries worldwide.
Furthermore, QFC Authority is well advanced in its preparation for another international certification – the ISO 27001 – which will standardize its information security management systems according to international best practices.
