A delegation led by Sweden’s Minister for Local Government & Financial
Markets, Mats Odell, visited the QFC on 22 February. The delegation, comprising Sweden’s Ambassador to the UAE and Qatar, the Head of the Swedish Trade Council in the Middle East and representatives of 8 Swedish financial companies including ABG Sundall Collier, Catella, EQT, HQ Bank, Nordea, Nasdaq OMX, SEB and Tredje AP-fonden are currently visiting Qatar and the UAE. "Qatar is one of our fastest growing trade partners in the world" said Bruno Beijer, Ambassador for Sweden.
"The delegation's perspective is not a short term one. It is about creating new and long term relations in the financial sphere that will benefit our trade and investments." The delegation were met by Shashank Srivastava, Director of Strategy and Planning of the QFC Authority, Richard Collins, Managing Director of Authorisation of the QFC Regulatory Authority and other executives from the QFC Authority. The discussion focused on the benefits of being licensed by the QFC and using the QFC as a regional platform, and the opportunities for financial firms in the Qatari market.
