QFC Authority Unveils Summer Internship Programme

The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority has announced details of its enhanced summer internship programme for the coming season.

The QFC Authority has arranged internships in the past 3 years, but this year has introduced changes to the scope of the programmme. In addition to undergraduate students from universities in Qatar, the QFC Authority is also offering the opportunity of work experience to the children of QFC Authority employees who are in secondary education above the age of 16.

The QFC Authority Summer Internship programme will commence in June and will continue to the end of July. The programme is open to all nationalities, and has scope for a total of 8 candidates.Aida Al Shahri

Successful undergraduate internship candidates will receive a stipend of QR 200 per day, and secondary student interns who participate in the programme for a minimum of 4 weeks will receive QR 100 per day.

The working hours for undergraduate candidates will be 8- 2 pm Sunday- Thursday and for secondary student candidates from 8- 1 pm. All will receive daily lunch coupons for the Second Cup restaurant in the QFC Authority.

Aida Al Shahri, Director of HR at the QFC Authority, said "I have been impressed by the professionalism and team spirit of the QFC Authority since joining the organization earlier this year. There is a real pride and ambition among the staff here about what they are doing. It is the sort of working environment that I think those entering the workplace from college will aspire to. We will give the participants in the internship programme real tasks to do, and they will be required to give a short presentation at the end on what they have learnt."

All successful candidates of the QFC Authority Summer Internship Programme will receive certificates of achievement.

Qatar Financial Centre
The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) is a financial and business centre established by the Government of Qatar and located in Doha. It has been designed to attract international financial services institutions and major multi-national corporations and to encourage participation in the growing market for financial services in Qatar and elsewhere in the region. QFC Regulatory Authority
The QFC Regulatory Authority is an independent regulatory body established by Article 8 of the QFC Law. It regulates firms that conduct financial services in or from the QFC. It has a broad range of regulatory powers to authorize, supervise and, when necessary, discipline firms and individuals. The QFC Regulatory Authority regulates firms using principle-based legislation of international standard, modeled closely on that used in London and other major financial centers. The Regulatory Authority is currently receiving applications and granting authorisations.

QFC Authority
The QFC Authority is the commercial, administrative and legislative body responsible for driving the commercial strategy of the QFC and for developing relationships with the global corporate community and other key institutions both within and outside of Qatar.
