QFCA grants license to NYSE Qatar LLC, New York Stock Exchange

NYSE Qatar LLC has been granted a license by the Qatar Financial Centre Authority (QFCA) to operate as a licenced firm in the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC).

NYSE Qatar LLC has been allocated Qatar Financial Centre Licence No. 118 and it will be the QFC’s first stock exchange company.

QFCA Acting CEO and Chief Strategic Development Officer, Shashank Srivastava welcomed the latest licenced firm’s decision to establish itself within the QFC.

Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority
The QFC Authority is the commercial, administrative and legislative body of the QFC which is responsible for driving its commercial strategy, developing its commercial laws and forging relationships with the global corporate community and other key institutions both within and outside of Qatar. The QFC is a financial and business centre established by the Government of Qatar and located in Doha. It consists of the QFC Authority and the QFC Regulatory Authority, as well as an independent judiciary. The QFC has been designed to attract international financial services institutions and major multi-national corporations and to encourage participation in the growing market for financial services in Qatar and elsewhere in the region. The QFC was created by Qatar Law No (7) of 2005 and operates to international standards providing a first class legal and business infrastructure for those licensed to operate within the organisation.
